First time mom to be, and I'm starting to panic a little about the idea of giving birth.

I'm expecting my very first baby in January 2018, and I don't know what to expect when it comes to labor. I don't know how common tearing is or if there's a way to prevent it, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about it. I don't know what all I should bring to the hospital when I go in to give birth. If anyone has any tips on how to prepare for labor, that would be fantastic.
