Hello, I am Jhuma ,a mother of 21 month old baby girl. My problem is her eating habit. Earlier she used to have every thing but I have to grind it feed her. Now gradually she has started chewing foods. She won't have rice at all and anything which takes time to chew she will spit out. She only like sweet items n in everything I have to add sugar, so almost 4-5 tsp sugar she is consuming everyday. So my qns are: 1) How to make her chew and eat the food as she partially chew the food and than through out. 2) How to make her eat rice. 3) How to generate her interest in non sweet food items. Please help me with your prior experience and valuable suggestions. Thanks Jhuma

Hi Jhuma, I'm a young baby's mother myself. When my baby gets fussy na, I change her diet and try fruit and vegetable mashes. Fruits contain natural sugars so it's only little time to take to adjust to the sweetness. If I worry about the weight, I give Probiotics to help her stay healthy. Especially in summer, food can get spoilt so curds and buttermilk also can help.

Thanks Rhea. I agree with you and tried the same but the issue is she refuse to have if the mashes are not smooth enough. I just want to encourage her chewing habit. What else can be given in liquid diet as she want to have more liquid these days. I gave her juices, some times diluted lassi, water with palm jiggery (taal misri) etc.

So Jhuma, I saw this blog link here: http://indianhealthyrecipes.com/indian-baby-food-chart/ See if this works for you. I would also suggest probiotics. I swear they work wonders. I hear Econorm is safe for babies. Try adding that to her food, increase her physical activity to help hunger and also maybe see if she could be just be feeling like not wanting to chew.
