Why gripe water should be given to babies ? Is it compulsory to give ? Can it be given if my baby have loose motions ?

Hi Leesha.. Gripe water is given to babies to soothe or settle them down if they are crying or colicky or have gas in stomach or any other stomach ailments. But its mainly given for gas and colic. For loose motions u can give ORS solution to baby which can be made by adding a pinch of salt and little sugar(acc to baby's age) in water. and if the baby is breastfeeding then must feed him frequently to keep the baby hydrated.
