Hi Nishita, Many parents are facing the same problem. U can change it slowly. First of all put a check to the technology time. Put password for iPad. Tell her that she can play for half an hour a day. Ask her to choose her time slot. Then unlock the iPad for 30 min. Also give one hour t. v time. She can choose her favourite program. First she will find it difficult. Then she will get used to it. Explain the t. v time will weaken her eyesight, sitting on the same place will make her obese and she may not find time to study. Put her in some physical activity class like yoga, swimming, shuttle etc. on the days when class is not there, take her to park for 30 min. U can walk there and she can play there. If in ur apt corridor kids play, take her there. Cycling is fun. Let her ride on it . Make her activity time interesting and spend time with her so that she will change soon. All the best!

Hi Nishita! These gadgets have become a bane in every household rather than a boon. We as parents need to curtail their use in front of kids so that we set an example for them. I know it is difficult. it is advised one can use it when children have gone to school or are sleeping. Secondly u cud set a time table for her where there is fixed stipulated time for ipad use. This will make u free of everyday arguments on its use. Thirdly u cud include physical activities in the timetable which cud be in the form of yoga, going for a walk, playing outdoors or joining some activity class like dance, swimming, karatein, badminton etc. fourthly, u cud accompany her to set an example for her. Last but not the least u cud discuss the benefits of excercise and fall outs of excessive tv viewing and use of ipad with her. I am sure she wud understand and agree with u sooner or later!! But do motivate her to stick to the timetable and show interest in going out and involve urself in the activities she is participating in.
