Hi Tanuja, till about a year, our BM does provide the nutrients required for the baby. But after a year, it adds nothing to the needs of a growing baby and hence it is generally advised to start introducing solids after 6 months. At 14 months, your BM is really something that should be optional for your baby and not the main food. You have to, absolutely have to be firm and start insisting on him having solids and may be give your BM only as a reward for having the solids. Some parents might suggest that you should completely stop the feed and only then the baby will resort to having solids out of hunger. But this situation might backfire. But given no choice, you may have to try this as well... for he needs his nutrients from the solids. IF you want, you can start with semi mashed foods and then eventually go to complete solids. Just remember that will have to be very stern in this. He will cry, he will throw tantrums but you will be doing it for his good only. Hope it helps.
