how strict should we be to a moody cribbing and unattentive 9 yr old.

My girl is very sweet otherwise. how to handle this age positively, for her n us. She complains, cries,is moody. I feel bad n guilty that I need to shout at her but she wont follow any instructions from basic to important until I be loud. Till then all she will do is IGNORE. I have tried all... open talk many a times, rules, time outs. We spend time together, like having at least one time meal together, many times two, watching movie now and then, moving out at least once a month or in 3 weeks. but she still finds something or the other to crib about. If I sit n talk to her that she turns us upset with her behavior and its not good for her too, she'll start crying and apologizing but will be the same within another half an hour. How to handle this better?

Hi Supriya, clearly she knows and is manipulating you in doing things for her or in her favour. Next time she cribs about something you also do the same thing and ignore her. For some time stop going out for movies or anywhere out and if she asks why we are not going that's when you tell her that because her behaviour is unacceptable and she refuses to change after repeated talks it is better that we stay at home.
