How to change my son from Feeding Bottle to Sipper/Glass drinking

1 to 3 years

Hi Friends,   My Son is just 2yrs old and always want to drink only with Feeding Bottle. He is not ready to take anything when he is fed with sipper/glass. He think anything which is given to him other than feeding bottle is for spitting.     I tried all the ways, like not showing the feeding bottle and try to make him understand that if you want to drink anything, you dont have feeding bottles for that.. But he is ready to starve, but not taking.     Can anyone suggest a way, how can i change his feeding bottle drinking? We are planning to put him in Playschool and i dont know how he will manage there?

Dear Bharathi! Taking milk from Feeding bottles is a habit which indeed takes time to do away with. It seems nothing is working well with ur child. I believe u shd give him some more time. May be when he goes to school n sees his age mates taking milk from sippers, glass etc. he too wud feel the need to do so. U cud make him talk to his friends n ask them how do they drink milk, buy him attractive mugs, sippers, make him use straws, in a months or two time. May be he will like this idea then. U cud reward him by pasting a smiley on his cheeks, or giving a star on his hand, cooking Him his favorite dish, etc. keep praising him n motivating him. U cud discuss with him the harmful effects of long term use of bottles. Let him analyze himself when he is ready n take this decision. Hope this works!

I have a similar problem. My daughter is 3+. She doesn't drink milk without her bottle. I hid the bottle once. She refused to Drink milk. I would forcibly give her thrill yo drink. Her intake of milk reduced from 3bottles to Half a cup of milk. My husband argued with me and against my wish bought a new bottle for her yo drink milk. She is back to drinking her 3 bottles of milk everyday.
