same is the case with my daughter however she does what is done in school. She is 3. 1 and her teacher has asked to encourage use of crayons at home as well to promote motor development of finger tips which they call pincher grip. You should lay your apprehensions to rest and give a motherly nudge to your kid.

what is exact age of your daughter ? my twins are now 3. 5 and I don't force them to write. But I have allowed them to scribble anything anywhere using pen, crayons. They scribble on walls everywhere. Let them do it. The kids will learn to write eventually. An age of 3 or 4 is not for understanding perfect writing, even if it's not just an ABC. Give them some time and they should be fine. If not writing ask them to draw shapes. The important part in this age is to get a grip with pencil or pen or whatever they use to write.
