Hi all, my daughter is 2. 5 year old. I face problems in putting her to sleep at night. She will be very play full at night and will not sleep before 1 am then get up late in morning. Please suggest how do I improve her sleeping habits?

Bedtime stories have long been known to foster parent-child bonds and prepare children for sleep. You can try them :)

Have a bedtime routine, and stick to it. That is, dinner -> bathtime -> brushing teeth -> bathroom -> reading in bed -> sleep. It'll take a while to establish, but once he gets the picture, then he knows what to expect.

Children sometime resist sleep if they see activity around the house because they want to participate in it. Switch off the lights in the house, asking others to cooperate too, assuring her that everyone is sleeping while you and your husband cuddle with him.

Hi. Yes a routine is very vital and needs to be followed diligently. More than the kid you have to ensure that you do the same things with her when its sleep time. Encourage her by rewarding her with kisses, hugs when she follows the routine. Do not entertain her too much. After the routine just cuddle her in bed say a final Good Night and switch off the lights. With my elder daughter it was singing her a lullaby, kissing her and saying Good Night. With younger one its one bedtime story daily, kissing her and saying Good Night - see u in the morning.
