Hello there! out of the two boards icse n cbse, I Hv heard that cbse has oflate made radical changes in its curriculum n has surpassed the icse board which was once the most sought after boards (during our times almost two decades ago). How far is this true? My only concern is to enroll my child there where his basics would get a larger n clearer perspective. Plz help.

puja arora gupta - I would advice you to go school by school on either boards, as the execution varies by a big variance between schools given the same syllabus and guidelines. For e. g. a school A may be doing a great job at putting the CCE (CBSE's evaluation/assessment) in practice, whereas a school B may be struggling at it badly, and in turn the child may suffer. Same applies to ICSE board.

I understand dat the focus shud b laid on the learning approach of the schools. Kpng dat in mind i hv already shortlisted a few schools (cbse n icse). But the major concern now is wich one to finalise in terms of board... cbse or icse. After all board does matter a lot.

Tx Monica for ur reply! I was at my wit's end after knowing dat cbse has phenomenally changed over the years whereas icse has not taken any step towards improvement. Infact somebody told me dat icse is more of cramming whereas cbse is turning into practical learning. This is where I got stuck. I completely agree wth nitin n shipra dat teaching method shud b given more emphasis n dat is how I reached on two schools with a good learning approach but diff boards. There I wanted to make a choice n found myself on tenterhooks. Dat is why I raised this topic to get some insight.
