Latching problem

My baby is 1 month old... he is not able to latch properly.... what should I do... he literally bites wit its gums.... I get a reddish thing then on my nipples... and it pains when he sucks... please suggest

applying ghee can help... also make your baby suck d whole black part not just nipple.. so it won't hurt you and will give your baby proper grip.. keep trying.. don't give your baby other milk easily.. bcoz once he wil get used to it he will not bf... he'll stick to wat is easy...

Hey Sweety i can understand ur pain. nipple shields can work till ur nipple heals well. Make sure while offering ur breast baby has her mouth wide open. u can touch her nose with ur nipple before feeding this will make her open her mouth wide than try to latch her make sure she has the areola ( dark portion) inside hr mouth. problms like bitting chomping comes whn baby is latched to the nipple alone. wishes for u to Recover soon.

I faced the same problem. I bought breast pump and expressed my milk and fed her by bottle. that gave my nipples time to heal. so alternatively you can do that. once your baby becomes 6-7 weeks old things will be better. I tried nipple shield but that too wasn't helping me. because baby was putting pressure while feeding.
