hi.. I am 37 weeks pregnant.. I got my hemogram checked and I am shock to see that my hemoglobin is on 7. 6 where as it used to be above 11 always... I eat dates on daily basis then also I m facing this problem... also doctor is saying my baby is still not coming down side.. and water level is OK whereas I drill 3 liters of water daily and walk for half an hour daily and also do some domestic work on regular basis... kindly suggest what can be done now?

Hi Mufeeda, start taking beetroot,pomegranate,spinach and include gooseberry in your diet it will help.

as u are already 37 weeks not much time is there to build up your hb levels. Apart from nutrition start taking iron supplements probably advised by your Gynae. And get a repeat test done after 2 weeks.

along with it iron supplements, take dry fruits juice twice a day and spinach curry frequently.. the best way to increase HB asap.... All d best dear..

I am a nutritionist, so I will comment only on your Hb. Dates DO NOT have sufficient iron to maintain haemoglobin in normal women, let alone pregnant mothers. I hope you were given iron supplements throughout your pregnancy which you should be taking from your second trimester. Talk to your gynaecologist and start taking now. You will need iron supplements even after delivery

If you are non-vegetarian, you can eat red meat. Though there are vegetarian sources with good iron content (spinach is NOT one of them) like cauliflower leaves, carrot leaves, they also have lot of phytates which interfere with absorption. best bet during pregnancy is tablets.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions... my doctor gave me two injections in one week interval... I delivered my baby boy on 19th Jan at that time my hemoglobin was 9 .. it was normal delivery..
