hi, even I was advised by my pead to give iron syrup to my baby from 6 months old. but the thing is.. my baby is mixed fed. I gave his formula milk and breast feeding. as formula fed babies don't have enough iron in their body I was advised for iron syrup. but if ur baby is completely on breastfeeding then there is no need for u to give iron syrup. u can give honey water instead.

hi vaibhav... sometimes it's suggested because of various aspects like climatic conditions, iron absorption etc... specially during the weaning process babies tend to resist eating and want to feed from the mother. my baby is also exclusively breastfed but I was suggested to give heamozink an iron supplement in combination of zinc ... sometimes babies look pale due to it so....
