Hi Revathy, frankly speaking, both my sons are named according to my husband's name. So I didn't follow any ritual for naming the child.

Hi revathy ..sum parents go on birth time.. n select the name according to their nakshatra.. while sum go on wid their choice of name.. , N sum go wid rhyming word's of their sibblings..

Thanks for your response. I have zeroed on a traditional name for my son to which my folks reaction is not positive. A constant comment I have received is that I need to keep a name which makes him in tune with this generation. I find this very surprising. my understanding is that if parents believe it is the best name to keep, so be it. How can other kids name be considered ? if done so, then comparison will be at all levels.
