Hi my son is 10 years old, for weekend plans I want to take him for natural site seeing but he is more interested in going to malls and enjoy indoor games instead. Please suggest how should I make him understand the importance of being close to nature.

I think, you should take him to Gardens and parks with some outdoor games like cricket, golf etc... so that he will know how greenary is so pleasant. Later, once he is used to, take him for a morning walk to parks and explain him the importance of nature.. First, try to go in his way and make him understand what you intend to explain. Make his trip to Gardens and Parks interesting by making yourself involved in playing along with him.

Hi Rahul! It is advisable to make him join a sports club wherein he could learn a sport of his choice. He could pursue it if he wishes. If parents also take active interest in activities which they want to inculcate in their child it works as motivator for them. If possible u cud also join him and go to sports club and take up some activity of ur interest. U cud take him to park on weekends for picnics and take badminton rackets, football, frisbee, Scooty or cycle along alternately. Children at this age enjoy cycling/ skating if possible help him get into a circle of friends who share common interest and could go for cycling/skating with Him everyday. You could call his friends home once in a while and organise snacks party in the garden area. During events in the society like Independence Day celebrations, etc u cud motivate him to participate in sports events. He could also take up sports in school and a good performance in co curricular activities would boost his confidence levels and would prove to be a motivator to do well in academics too. Hope this works!

hey Rahul , a child at 10 needs to be inspired into a new thing , one cannot expect a child to necessarily like natural site seeing. At 10 years a child may be inspired to go to natural sight seeing if for example you got him a pair or binoculars and a nice journal. You coud set aside time where together you could go to a park or any outdoor location and probably click pictures of the birds / plants found in that area, with the help of the binoculars document the characteristics in the journal and help him with the journal by getting prints of the things that you clicked and found. You could even research a bit more on the internet together and turn the journal into an informative blog of sorts. The sense of accomplishment that your son will get will inspire him to go out doors the next time around. The idea is to explore what excites the child and then do it together. Hope it helps.
