hi Nithi! he seems to be good in math but no so much in literature . he needs to do more of writing work. give him timed test papers. , and check immediately and make him do corrections. the more the practice ,the better it would get.. also please do consult a child psychologist to rule out learning disability.. as far as school is concerned, he would need a tutor or extra help in whichever system he studies. u need to take feedback of parents whose children are already studying in that school and find out how are they coping.. hope this helps!

Hi my son is also in grade 4 and he has the same problem... Don’t lose hope... sit with your child while studying... ask the child to read aloud by following with fingers... take a small passage, dictate and make the child write... give random spellings for writing... they don’t write because they will not be able to picturise the spellings... make the child split a long word into Three or four parts and read with phonetic sounds ... I will not say that you will achieve 100% result ... but I am seeing change in my son... he has started attempting questions and even if the child writes a little keep encouraging that will make the child achieve... give small gifts like pencil when the child shows slight improvement in grades they will start feeling happy which will encourage them to study... Give it a try...
