Oil in ear

Hi its an urgent query, we took our daughter to her doc today she has been itching her left ear very much. she doesnt cry just scratches it. so asked the doc she said there is no infection its becos the her inner portion of ear has dry skin which is causing the itchiness. she suggested putting 2 drops of oil in her ears once a week so that the skin remains moist. I have read that u cant put oil in babies ears. so i need experienced people to guide me. my baby is 2. 5 months old. also which oil doctor said the oil we use daily with some garlic to warm it a day before use n keep aside n use next day. or she said we can put the baby massage oil also as it has preservatives n prevents fungal growth. pls help me...
