hi Ranjeeta! waiting till the time she begins with her periods won't be a good idea. its time that u begin carrying on discussions regarding puberty so that she is not taken for a surprise or shocked on seeing first few drops of blood. carry on with the discussion over a period of time rather than letting it a subject for a day as it can be too overwhelming for the child. please go through this blog ,which will give u some idea about how to initiate a talk on this topic. u could also take help of age appropriate books and explain to her with the help of diagrams. don't go into unnecessary details. also please ensure u r using age appropriate language. the purpose is to guide our children so that they are well informed and not to scare them. here's the link, please do go through this. hi Sonika Aggarwal! girls can begin with their periods anytime between 10 to 15 years of age. so u can be relaxed and let her enjoy her childhood till she doesn't get her periods. if u still feel something is amiss please do consult a gyneac for better understanding.

yeah, just tell her, coz if u will not tell her, may be she will try to gather info from other sources like her frenz, magazines, net etc. Just be her fren n go ahead. so that if she faces first time period in Ur absence, she can handle it.
