Hi everyone, My son is going to turn 3 this January. I want to gift him a small pet (no dogs or cats) as I live in an apartment and space is limited. Please give me your suggestions what pet is good and safe.

Hi Rajat, you can consider a guinea pig or a hamster. they are small and stay in cages. Though they can't be cuddled, they are friendly too. Their activities will delight your son. Buy a cage which has a wheel installed in it where these pets can play.

Even small fish in an aquarium are good pets, though they have a short life. you can buy a large aquarium or a bowl shaped one.

popular pets are fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, and small size dogs. but they all require care and attention. Iv realised it eventually becomes the parents responsibility.

Hi Rajat, small turtles or rabbits (though they smell a lot) can also be kept in the house. But if you are in the north of the country, I would suggest post pone buying anything till march. In this cold winter, they require much more care and if you haven't kept any pets earlier, chances are your inexperience may not work well.

even small crabs can be kept in an aquarium. they also do not require too much looking after and keep swimming happily. but find out from the pet shop about the water temperature etc. you may need to an install a heater.
