Pressurize kids to meet all milestones?

1 to 3 years

My daily rounds to parks with my soon to be 3 year old daughter always puts my i a jiffy, I see parents pressurizing their own kids as young as 1 year old to do what other kids of same age are able to. They fret, complain how their kids are slow and how others of their age and meeting and sometimes jumping milestones. I get very disgusted and just feel we have to give our kids space to meet their milestone, what do you people think?

Good blog, though I kind of disagree to some parts, kids never ever compete themselves, i think as parents we intentionally or sometimes unintentionally force them to compete or reach our pre- decided milestones

Megha Chawla, i agree with you totally. sometimes unconsciously also we do it... for eg: see your cousin eats 2 rotis and you still eat one, or look your friend talks in english and you don't.. and we unfortuantely build complexes and competitions in our children

Rightly said Rachna, I am trying very hard to stop myself, give my daughter some space and not thrust competition on her for almost everything. Trying to make her pick up things at her own pace, maybe that helps
