Regular cough

1 to 3 years

Hi :   My daughter is 4 years.   In the last one year I have observed that once she gets cough, it usually takes days/weeks to cure completely.   Recently I consulted her piediatrician about this condition and he recommended a anti-allergy tablet for 1 month and also adviced to give her Influenza vacine which is a protection from swine flu also.   My query is does the Influenza vacine really protect from Swine flu (I am from Pune where swine flue is rampant).     Looking forward to your valuable inputs.   - Nirmala

Hi Nirmala! Season flu vaccine is not effective against swine flu. U need to get swine flu vaccine especially prepared to protect against swine flu. It is advisable for children above 6 months of age.

Dear Nirmala, I am not sure whether flu vaccine will fight Swine flu. Swine flu is a more severe condition. Cough can take up to weeks to completely disappear and with medication, the cough is suppressed only for it to recur again. For more information on Swine Flu and the vaccine, have a read of this blog: https://www.parentune.com/parent-blog/is-your-child-protected-against-swine-flu/248
