My son is as of now easily catching up and doing as I hv already prepared him for the same. But I m worried after summer vacation what speed they will catch. Will he able to cover and cope up. Hey mums…. pls suggest me …how to make especially writing interesting for him. As homework comes everyday ….. and it all depends on my son’s mood. Forgot to mention…I m working mom. Pls help. Thanks. @ Neha and Gaurav: I m in touch with teacher(we can contact teacher anytime after school hrs on phone & in person). I have asked for syllabus so tht i'll make him prepare during summer vacation. Still I feel the speed is too fast, young ones cant catch that until he prepare early for the same. As my son is just 4 I hv to help him to do homework... he cant do himself...... Pls advise.

Hi Aarti! ! Yes it is a good suggestion to be in touch with ur child's teacher and discuss ways to improve ur child's performance. At 4 years a child wud need adults help to do homework. It will still take few years for him to learn making of alphabets confidently and independently. If u feel the pace at which work is done in class is fast, u cud always ask for schedule of the month beforehand from teacher in which each days work to be done in class is written. U cud make him practice that in advance or revise what was done in class. Do not force the child to study. This wud take away all the interest. Rather u cud teach in interesting wAys by making him do homework and rewarding in the end by preparing his favorite dish or playing a game with him or watching cartoon with him. While doing homework u need to be patient and ur tone should be calm and motivating. Like praising on successful completion. Also there is lot of repitition in junior classes. So in case ur child is not able to match up the speed now he can catch up one of those days due to lot of repitition. Make sure u follow the same method in which it is taught in school to make things less confusing for the child. Hope this helps!

this is the time when the child will be reluctant to start with homework. allow him to find his pace, help him with the homework. sit down with him. solve the work together. become a team. For writing again I think you should accompany him. Write half a page yourself, encourage him to do the same. When the homework is done, make sure your compliment him and reward him in different ways. maybe a pat on the back, or some special food for dinner.
