Spitting and beating

My friends toddler has started spitting and beating others when ever his wish is not fulfilled. There is daily complain from his preschool abt his misbehavior. She tried to explain him politely /harshly but all her efforts are going on vain. Please suggest what she should do?

Am not sure what is the right way for her child. But I can share what helps me in such situtaions. Like when my son hits me at times for not fulfilling his wish, I just give him a hard stare and stop talking or playing with him. I repeat every time you hit màma or elders, no body will talk to you or play. ( I hold his weak link, because he just cannot take me avoiding him(. so may be making him learn showing consciences might work. In case the child cries, I let him cry making him stand at a corner of house and telling when you stop misbehaving only then we will talk. Making kids to tell sorry everytime doesnt work actyally. I do what suits for my child... may be it gives you any direction.
