Swimming

My daughter is 8 years old. She has never learnt swimming. I feel that the skin gets tanned and kids become dark due to this. However my husband feels swimming is necessary. Can you all please suggest?

Hi Shivani, I would agree with your husband. Swimming does darken the skin but the tan goes away and is not permanent. Your daughter would swim in summers and in the following months the tan would take care of itself. My child is a water baby. She loves being in water. It makes her truly happy and she looks forward to it. At the same time, it is also a survival skill which I am glad she learnt. Besides, children tan all the time while playing in the sun as well :) Allow me to say, don't rob her of a wonderful experience to protect her appearance. :)

hey shivani , lotus kids is a great anti sun tan lotion , it is also water proof , you can do two things, firstly use a sunscreen which is water proof and take your child for swimming in the evening. Swimming early morning ( when the sun is not out and strong) or in the evening after sunset is advisable and has minor sun damage... i do all the above with my daughter and its not that she does not get tanned at all but it is not too bad. I agree with shanaya , after all it is not permanent no ... let your daughter have fun.
