thumb sucking

my son is 8 months old and got the habbit of thumb sucking. everyone says that this may affect his teething and his teeth will come in front. since he is too small not sure how to stop this habbit.

hi Gowri Deshpande! this habit of thumb sucking is not uncommon in infants. they do this to self soothe themselves and this gives them a sense of security. it's advisable to give your baby an orthodontic pacifier instead , as it is safer and won't lead to unaligned teeth.
