Hi Ashwini, your baby is only 6 month and have just started foods other than breastmilk so give light and easy to digest foods as the the digestive system has just started working. Dont give ragi as it is suggested after 7 th month or in 8th month. To begin day start with breast milk. Keep gap of 2 or 2 & 1/2 hr between each solids preferably semi solids. whenever your baby wakes up her routine starts right from thath time. after 1 hr of breastfeed Give breakfast of well cooked oats/ powdered daliya/ suji apple kheer/ suji khir/ cerelac. After breakfast give breastmilk once before lunch . In lunch you can give well cooked moong daal khichdi/ upper layer of chappati mashed in milk or daal/ mashed rice with milk or daal. After lunch give dome gap then you can give few spoons of juices like watermelon, grapes, pomegranate, chickoo, coconut water. Arouund 4 -4. 30 in evening again you can give purees like apple puree/ carrot puree/ potato puree/ tomato puree /beetroot puree/ pear/ papaya/ banana and purees of so many fruits or vegetables .Again between dinner and evening snacks you can breastfeed. In dinner you can again give cerelac, daliya, sabudaana, upper layer of chappati mashed in milk. Whatever you give should be well cooked and in semi solid form . Breastmilk should be given at least for 7-9 times a day. Hope this will help you Ashwini.

ragi is a good starter food for babies. but i saw in the comments someone suggesting cerelac, chapathi ,smashed rice , dal, kheer , fruit juices and advising it to be better than ragi. kindly delay these foods for some more time. its a 6months old baby. chapathi has gluten in it. gluten , sugar , juices , citrus , cows milk an ddairy products must b given only after atleast one yr. and cerelac is definitely a packaged food ...why go for it when you can make at home ?

you can give the baby for 2 to 3 times a day untill 7th month and then after 7 ...make it 3 times a day. morning you can start with a puree of apple pear banana , avocado carrot sweetpotato etc. (no oranges ). can make a single puree or combine 2 fruits and make. noon u can give ragi .....and evening before 7. 30 u can give a veg puree or combination puree. it s better not to feed him after 9. and when u try a new food do it in the morning or noon. this is for a 6th month baby. when it comes to 7th month the puree need to b only once a day and can give more staple foods like ours dal potato... add black raisins to avoid constipation. ragi has the highest calcium content which is required for babies bone development.

hi you have to introduce food one by one and anything u start new give it for 3 to 5 days so that baby's system will get adapted and also if anything is allergic u can easily find out which food. U can start the day with breastmilk and around 9 am any porridge like raggi porridge, wheat porridge, rice-Dahl porridge. avoid giving raggi porridge often it will not increase weight u can also give idly with veg soup, or black Channa boiled water. once your baby reaches 8 months you can start giving multigrain porridge. Then around 11am you can give veg soup or fruit juice like watermelon, orange, sweet lime try to give seasonal fruits. for lunch give rice with dhal and potato you can add vegetables one by one . also can give rasam rice once in a while. u should add ghee to rice. after 8 months can give home made curd also spinach with dhal. evening around 4 pm or 5 pm accorging to your baby waking up time u can give banana smoothie, Apple smoothie, chickoo smoothie, carrot smoothie. mostly after 6pm babies may start their night sleep so you can give breastmilk. after few months you can start one more meal. if the baby is awake for long hrs u can give pasteurized cow milk but also check with your doctor before giving other milk. my doctor advised me to give aavin milk green colour pkt. and for porridge I mix this milk. follow certain things like as soon as your baby wakes up give food and follow a routine like that don't disturb the baby sleep for any food timing. replace sugar with honey or dates for fruit juice and palm candy for any porridge. some time baby will be fuzzy don't force any food if he/she not liking it . if baby demand for breastmilk always provide it. don't be too much worried if the baby skip any meal. happy feeding.
