hi Nagrathna! tracing a dotted line, requires lot of patience and concentration. not many children of this age would be able to trace it perfectly. it is advisable to make him trace on big alphabets on white board with markers , or blackboard with chalks by making dots between four lines. u could praise him , and reward him with a smiley everytime he writes . u could take print outs of practice sheet and set small targets. half a sheet to begin with would be a good idea. gradually increase it to 1 everyday.. praise and motivation would do magic in this case. hope this helps!

Hi Nagarathna, For little ones, freehand drawing will be easier than tracing on dotted lines. So try using simple maze puzzles for your child to draw the lines using freehand drawing between the path. or you can even use pictures that are drawn with double lines so your child can draw between the double lines. Here are some samples in the kumon product review page. http://superfunmama.blogspot.hk/2009/02/kumon-books-product-review.html. There are workbooks in Kumon such as my first book of tracing, Amazing mazes Numbers 1 to 50, joining the dots. These books have worksheets with freehand drawing and then gradually progresses to tracing on dotted lines. If you are making your own dotted lines for tracing, ensure to use dots which are far apart and not too close. You can also try joining the dots activity..
