Hi, My daughter who is 2. 5 yr old is potty trained but she doesn't say when she wants to pass urine. I take her to the washroom 6 to 7 times a day and she does pass urine but she doesn't inform me on her own. She sometimes does it anywhere around the house and then comes and tells me to clean it. I just want some suggestions on how to go about training her.

Shruthi, 2. 5 yrs olds don't have control over the bladder. So she may not even realise when to pass urine till that moment and she may not tell you. Do not use diapers when you are at home. During the day, when you take her to the washroom, ensure to follow the same time schedule everyday consistently. Gradually increase the time duration of the interval between the visits to the washroom. She will gradually gain control. Even in playschool they stick to a certain time but they do take the children often as they know that little ones have to use restroom often. So do not worry. She will be just fine.

Hi Shruthi, it will take time for her to inform you that she needs to go to the washroom as at this age children don't have bladder control. Give her sometime... around 3 years she will be in a position. On your part, repeat in the day 'please tell mumma when you want to use the washroom' or ask her question when you take her to the washroom such as 'do you want to pee' 'do you want to use the washroom' this ways she will elarn the connect.
