use of Dr brandy in cough

my daughter is 8months old and she is suffering from cough n running nose. she is unable to sleep at night. she keeps on crying. somebody suggested to give her 2 drops of Dr brandy with milk, it will help her fighting with cold n cough n give relief. I want to know whether its safe to give, if yes then how?
