Hi dear Asha! I can talk about first part of ur question whether we should give milk during cough n cold. Dairy products produce phlegm which worsens cough. So it is advisable during cough n cold u cud give toned milk which is light n easily digestible and add pepper corns 3-4 while boiling along with tulsi leaves and one or 2 black cardamom seeds and strain it once boiled. Since milk is an essential part of a child's diet it is not possible to completely avoid it. So u cud try giving milk by this method. Hope this helps!

Hi Asha! Ever since I was a child I remember my grandmother giving me sitopladi churn or churan(powder) whenever I used to have cough and cold. What she used to do is take a pinch of sitopladi powder mix it with a teaspoon of honey and give. Even if you give just honey it gives quiet relief to cough.
