Hi Sojal! the average weight of a 6 year old girl is around 20 kgs. The child is definitely underweight. Please check whether the child is otherwise active and has no other medical problem. Some of the tips to increase weight includes: 1. Add variety to child's diet. U can make pasta , pizza, upma, poha, dosa, idli, uttapam, pancakes etc and add lot of finely chopped vegetables, cheese, butter to it. 2. Add colour, shapes to make it attractive and tempting. 3. Add fat in various form to child's diet such as butter, ghee, refined oils etc. 4. Give small frequent meals. 5. Do not force feed the child. 6. U can make food time fun time by sometimes making it a competition- who will finish first will get a smiley , or a star etc. or u cud play light music in background. 7. U cud eat with the child on a dining table. 8. The plates, mugs , cutlery used can be attractive. 8. U cud make one day of the week junk food day when child can have food of her choice. 9. U cud give deworming medication on advise of her doctor. 10. Involve the child in sports, physical activity which will make the child feel hungry. 11. Do not give biscuits or snacks before meals as these are filling and not nutritious. Hope these suggestions are useful!
