What do you do about Diarrhea?

Frequent bouts of Diarrhea have left my child feeling weak, with sunken eyes, dry skin and weight loss. What home and medicinal recommendations do you have that will help? I've found that giving a probiotic supplement with meal times has helped my child gain weight and has made her active! My child also loves the tutti frutti flavor of Econorm. Any other suggestions?

Hi Rhea, amp up his diet gradually. add more stomach friendly foods such as dahi and steamed idli in his diet. fermented foods such as idli are good for digesiton. use of heeng in cooking is also known to make digestion better. later you could start him on things like dry fruits and seeds to catch up on the lost weight.

freshly cooked food but light such as sprouts salad (children don't like it much so add lemon to it, and corn etc. that children like or even a few pieces of boiled pasta), boiled and grated evegtables raita (lauki raita, cucumber, beetroot raita etc). these things generally help in regaining strength of the body after an illness. also probiotics such as enterogermina
