Hi itohan ! 6 months is the age to wean a child from exclusive breastfeeding and introduce solid food. However u can continue with breastfeed till your baby is two years of age. Breastfeed gives a boost to immunity of the baby. It helps him fight off infection so the longer it is continued the better it is.

Helo itohan you can breastfeed your baby as long as you can. WHO recommends to breastfeed a baby atleast 6months and can be prolonged till 2years. There are even mothers who breastfeed their baby more than 2years. If you have no issues on breastfeeding the baby then you can continue till 2years. Breastmilk have the ability to adapt to the needs of growing baby. Breastmilk have the proper composition of nutrients needed for proper growth. You can read the following blogs which will motivate you to breastfeed Blogs-https://www.parentune.com/parent-blog/breastmilk-how-does-it-adapt-to-the-needs-of-your-baby/4112, https://www.parentune.com/parent-blog/composition-of-breastmilk-why-is-it-the-best-food-for-your-baby/4520, https://www.parentune.com/parent-blog/breast-milk-and-its-role-in-brain-development-of-your-baby/4071

itohan every child is unique so it depends how baby reacts to supplementary food other than the breast milk ...you cannot push a baby to wean as it is an ongoing process and it develops with the age of the child.. children reach an age of being ready to wean at different times. While one may be ready – or at least more willing – at 18 months, another may not be ready until closer to 2, 3 or 4 years of age.  but you can continue with breastfeed as it is nutritious and balanced food for the baby and high immunity provider
