Dear Leena, when we talk about fruit juices the names of oranges and sweet limes come into our mind first. BUT, l would like to tell you that citrus fruits should be introduced much later. My child's pediatrician advised me a sequence in the case of introducing fruits to a child : apple, banana, papaya, chikoo. ..and then oranges. Don't give anything except breastmilk to your child till 6 months. ..if formula feed required give it to your child... no need of giving water separately in this phase as both breastmilk and formula feed have enough water content in them.

Hello Chandra, you can give your child semi solid food. Ragi poridge, boiled and well smashed apple, Masoor or Moong daal soup, boiled and well smashed soft vegetables etc. But be careful about the consistency of the semi solid food... Baby may feel difficulty in swallowing newly introduced semi solid food. DON'T GIVE ANYTHING TO YOUR CHILD WITHOUT ASKING YOUR CHILD'S PEDIATRICIAN.

Hello Ashwini, you can give pumpkin, potatoes, carrots, green peas etc. ALL ARE WELL STEAMED AND WELL SMASHED. THERE SHOULD NOT BE SKIN OF ANY VEGETABLES. ...FOR PEAS ALSO. But introduce vegetables one by one. ..so what you can understand.... whether your baby is digesting that particular vegetable or not.

well steamed apple, mashed with boiled water strained thru a muslin cloth can be given in the proportion of 1: 1 ( apple juice: water) can be introduced using a sippy cup or feeding bottle from 6 months of age. 3 months is tooo early to start with any food or juice.

Hello Sayali, don't introduce fruit juices before 6 months. A baby's tummy doesn't become ready for digesting fruit juices at the age of 3 months ...give breastmilk as much as possible. ...if required you can give formula feed after consulting with your doctor. Moreover, there is a sequence of introducing fruits to a child... Apple, banana, papaya, chikoo. ..and then citrus fruits like oranges and sweet lime. PLEASE DON'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT ASKING YOUR CHILD'S PEDIATRICIAN.
