As working mother, you probably get anytime connecting with kids throughout the week. But, then you have the weekends to bond. To start with, do not bring work to home. Finish off all the pending tasks that are critical by the week, leave the rest for the next week. Connecting with kids is as much important as your work. So make a point, to keep the weekends for rejuvenating yourself and spending time with your children. Rule 2, plan different fun and age appropriate activated to bond with the child. The activities must not be only for the child but for all of you can take part in it. Have fun with colors, watch child friendly movies, make the most of the outdoor activities, go for a swim, visit a park or a zoo, the choices are endless. Expert says one of the best ways to spend time with kids is to just snuggle up on the bed or the couch with your toddler and read him/her a book or just talk about your day and your work. This not only helps children to connect but also give them a sense of how their moms work. Talking also helps in improving the kid’s vocabulary.
Yet other way to bond with toddler is to set up a family ritual. This could mean having a weekend meal together, watching a favorite show on the TV together, play some outdoor games together or just visit to the favorite donut shop together. Setting up rituals have benefits manifold. Firstly, you need not be hunting for ideas to do on the weekend. Secondly, both you and your child will start looking forward to the weekend to do that favorite activity together! I knew a mom who had a ‘wish day’ ritual for her toddler.
Last but the most important way is to set up some ‘me time’ for yourself and your toddler. Just cuddle each other, read together or whatever you prefer to do together. Just be yourself and have some fun!
