The Countdown stops and the marathon begins from today onwards, i.e. December 15th, 2021 for parents who wish to seek admission for their children in Nursery/Kindergarden/Class I in private, unaided as well as recognised schools in the National Capital as per the notification issued by the Directorate of Education last month. The process of registration for admission by filling up the application form will  conclude on January 7, 2022.

Important Dates Related to Admission:  

As per the schedule notified by DoE last month, the uploading of marks (as per point system) given to each of the children who applied for admission under open seats will take place on January 28,2022. The first list of selected candidates will be displayed on February 4, 2022. The second list of the selected candidates will be released on February 21, 2022 which will be followed by the subsequent list (if any) by March 15, 2022. The admission process would conclude on March 31, 2022. 

Key points about the Admission Form:

A fixed amount of Rs. 25/- (Non Refundable) can be charged from the parents by schools as admission registration fee as per DoE while the purchase of the school prospectus by the parents shall be optional. 

While the process of admission form is online, some schools have made the forms available offline too which can be collected from the school premises for the convenience of the parents.

Age  Criteria for Admission in Nursery, Kindergarten and Class I:

For admission in Nursery, Kindergarten and Class I, the upper age limit has been fixed as 4,5 and 6 years respectively while the minimum age is 3,4 and 5 years respectively as of March 31,2022. The relaxation of upto 30 days for minimum and upper age limit for admission for these classes will be granted by the Head of School/ Principal which can be sought by parents by parents  through a manual application.

List of Documents which will be required for admission include:

  • Ration Card/ smart card issued in the name of mother or father having name of their child

  • Domicile certificate of child or his/her parents

  • Voter ID (EPIC) of any parent

  • Electricity bill/MTNL telephone bill/water bill/passport in the name of any of the parents or the child

  • Aadhaar card/UID card issued in the name of any of the parents

Criteria Adopted by Schools for Delhi Nursery Admission 2022-23:

Proximity to school   (Distance) has been allotted heavy priority by most of the schools wherein candidates staying within 0-3km radius will get maximum points. Whereas some schools including MM Public School, Pitampura has graded points upto 10 kms with children staying within 0-6km radius getting 55 points while 45 points have been set for those beyond 8 km.

The other criteria for allotting points which have been adopted by schools include siblings with 10-30 points, alumni with 10-25 points, first child, staff ward and girl child. Marks awarded for each of these criterion will vary from school to school. For instance - In DPS Vasant Kunj, a child with father being an alumnus of any school under DPS Society will get 10 points , with mother will be given another 10 points and an additional 5 points if either of them have studied from the Vasant Kunj branch.  

Admission for economically weaker section/Disadvantaged children/Children with Special Needs will begin once the Admission is complete for general category with 25% of seats to be reserved for such students. The process of admission is centralised for these children and a draw of lots will be conducted by DoE.
