My understanding of Prebiotic HMO

As a mother to twins, it was challenging as it is and then to top that, I had millions of questions regarding my twins’ immunity and health. I remember how each time I met the Pediatrician, I would ask questions and then I would go back and read more about it. My Pediatrician told me about this important nutrient needed for my twins, called Prebiotic HMOs, which is found in mothers breastfeeding naturally. Prebiotic HMOs (Human Milk Oligosaccharides) promote the growth of good bacteria and this in turn strengthens a baby’s gut health, giving her the ability to fight the bad bacteria.
Prebiotic HMOs reduce the chances of infection in newborns and improve gut health. A deficiency of HMO leads to several issues, especially in a baby’s gut health and immunity. Newborns like my twins need these maternal antibodies for the first few weeks after birth which babies get from breastfeeding. Once I got to know this, I decided to breastfeed my child as long as possible and to make careful choices for my baby’s nutrition, which will help in improving her gut health and immunity. These nuances are very important for a first-time mom to know. Please do share with each first-time mom you know, if you found it useful.
