What Is Omega 3 And What Is It Good For?

Omega 3 fatty acids are also known as PUFA’S (Polyunsaturated fatty acids).These are of 3 types of Omega 3 acids viz. EPA, DHA and ALA.EPA AND DHA are required for normal growth and metabolism in growing children. 

Omega 3 has been shown to decrease the inflammation in the body, the symptoms of ADHD and other levels of depression. It has tons of benefits especially for children. It is good for their mental development. Omega-3 fish oil contains both docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Omega-3 fatty acids are essential nutrients that are important in preventing and managing heart disease. There are several benefits of omega 3 for your children. 

Omega 3 fatty acids provides necessary nutrition to prevent and relieve certain symptoms which are known for healthy brain developmen. They also build certain immunities in the child which saves the child from various diseases. Some of the diseases are heart disease, skin problems, dyslexia, asthma, obesity, rheumatoid arthritis and memory loss.

Cognitive Development

Several studies have shown that children who are fed formulas enriched in omega 3 acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)show improvements in hand-eye coordination, social skills, attention span and intelligence best scores.

Reduce Asthma Risk

Children of the mothers, who ate Omega 3 enriched during their pregnancy, are less likely to develop the asthma in future life.

Omega-3s Can Improve Risk Factors for Heart Disease

Omega-3s can reduce triglycerides in Kids. It keeps blood platelets from clumping together. This helps prevent the formation of harmful blood clots in children.

Growth

There’s some evidence omega-3 promotes growth and brain development in premature infants.

Diabetes

One study found that children who ate a high omega-3 diet were less likely to develop the type 2 diabetes.

Depression

Fish oil is usually used as a treatment for depression in adults; there have been a few studies in children too. One small 2006 study of fish oil in depressed 6- to 12-year-olds found it helped their symptoms significantly.
