What! 30-Year-Old Brain Dead Woman To Give Birth To A Child In 3 Months

Adriana had a medical emergency earlier this year, following which she was declared brain dead. Yes, you read that right. Adriana, a nurse by profession, succumbed to fatal brain clotting back in February, however, she has been kept on life support ever since to ensure that her baby grows to full term.

Adriana is currently 21 weeks pregnant and her due date is still 3 months away, which means that this could become one of the longest such pregnancies on record.

While Adriana’s family is not in favour of the decision, Georgia’s strict anti-abortion laws leave them with no other option. Under the law, abortion is considered illegal once the fetal heartbeat is detected. This is the reason why the law is often referred to as the ‘Heartbeat Law’, and it happens to be one of the most stringent laws in the United States, which came into effect in 2022.

Adriana’s mother, April Newkirk, shared that her daughter had been complaining of severe headaches for months. She consulted specialists at Atlanta's Northside Hospital and was prescribed medication. The next morning, when her boyfriend woke up, he saw her gasping for air. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead. When this happened, she was already 9 weeks pregnant.

April also revealed that doctors believe removing Adriana’s breathing tubes would most likely end her pregnancy as well. They intend to keep her on life support until the baby reaches a stage where it can be delivered without any complications.
