Breast milk - Breast milk is the best source of weight gain for babies till one year. WHO recommends babies should be breastfed exclusively for the first 6 months and frequently after that. When breastfeeding, you should empty one breast completely before moving to the next breast as the milk the baby gets at the beginning of the feeding is the thinner fore milk. The fat-rich hind milk comes after that.

Besides breastmilk, add healthy food options like Ragi which is rich in protein and calcium and is a great weight gaining foods for babies. It is also an excellent source of dietary fiber, protein and Vitamins B1, B2 and B6.

 

Potatoes - Potatoes are a great first food for children. These are rich in minerals, vitamins and their carbohydrate content helps in weight gain.

Banana loaded with potassium, calcium and phosphorus also have a good amount of dietary fiber, and are great for babies. Also since bananas are versatile, you could give these to your child in many different ways.

 

Sweet Potato - 

These are high in dietary fiber, magnesium and potassium, vitamin B6 and also vitamin A and C. 

Ghee - Ghee is clearly one of the best foods for weight gain, along with adding several other health benefits. Ghee is anti inflammatory and good for a strong immune system.
