Inspire Your Child About Science - Dr. Kalam Memorial Lecture

Remember those times, when you had questions about science and how the moon and the stars appeared and then were gone the next day. Remember the "toota taara" phenomenon as a child. I have always believed that the best gift a child can get is the gift of Wonder. Your child learns from their surroundings, experiences and they can observe more thank you and me, the adults. This is also the time that a child can get inspired by the wonders of science and space, and can have a great childhood exploring answers. I am happy to share about one such session of inspiration, which is coming up with Sunita Williams, the Astronaut. Sunita shall be interacting in a webinar while delivering Dr.Kalam Memorial Lecture on the 19th of July. I would recommend you to register your child, if your child is more than 3 years and has interest in the sun,
About Kalam Center
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Center for Livable Planet Earth and Sustainable Development was started in 2015 in line with the vision of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, 11th President of India. He's someone I looked up to personally throughout my college years and drew inspiration from his book and story. I would recommend you to get a copy of his autobiography, "Wings of Fire", and encourage your child to read it. In case your child is too young to read it, you could actually share some anecdotes from his life from the book. The book, like the genius, is inspiring to the core.
This Lecture is in line with Promoting innovations, and science among children. The initiative was started by Srijan Pal Singh, who worked with Dr Kalam on various consultative projects. The objective of this center is especially to improve youth participation in national and international development and improve access to education and knowledge in all strata of society.

In the words of the foundation, they aim to empower the young minds of the nation with the power of knowledge and reignite the passion to do good for the nation and for the world. Isn't that true inspiration for a young mind!
About Kalam Memorial Lecture
Kalam Memorial Lecture is one such session of true inspiration for young minds. This year, the session is happening as a webinar and young minds can attend it from their home. The speaker for the lecture is Sunita L. Williams, who was selected as an astronaut by NASA in 1998 and is a veteran of two space missions Expeditions. She formerly held the records for most spacewalks by a woman (seven) and most spacewalk time for a woman (50 hours, 40 minutes).

She is currently training for the first post-certification mission of Boeing's Starliner spacecraft - the second crewed flight for that vehicle - and her third long-duration mission aboard the International Space Station.

Who Can Attend the Kalam Memorial Lecture
While it's open for all age groups, preference would be given to children up to Grade 12. If there is space left, adults would also be able to join this webinar. My recommendation is that if your child is 3 years or older and has interest in science, sun, moon or space, you should register your child for this session.

One of my favorite quotes from Dr APJ Kalam -
Dreams - is not what you see in your sleep
Is the thing, which does not let you sleep
I wish that each child can get such inspiring dreams of wonder and make the world a better place. Let me know how was the webinar and share your child's reactions in images and words with us in the comments section.
