The enthralling Konark Dance Festival is held every year, organized by the Tourism Department and Odissi Research Centre. Held in the backdrop of the Sun Temple, this festival offers a platform to the classical dancers in India and as well as to act as showcase for India’s cultural depth where dance forms are concerned. Sun Temple:
The Sun Temple in Orissa has been attracting visitors from all over the national and international borders. Being a World Heritage Site, this temple is dedicated to the Sun God and is crafted out of black granite. The temple’s structure imitates Sun’s ornamental chariot with 12 pairs of wheels and 7 horses stunningly carved to enhance the exquisiteness of this masterpiece. The wheels actually resemble sundials from which accurate time can still be calculated. Some of the temple’s collapsed artefacts can be explored at the nearby Archaeological Museum -
