Social skiils are an area of challenge for most kids on the autism spectrum. In absence of verbal abiltiy to communicate effectively, a child may engege in hand flapping, clapping etc. to convey his emotions . While this may help him to display and communicate what he feels, in social settings, this gets termed as inappropriate behavior. In order to help the child articulate his feelings in a more effective manner, Dr. Himani Khanna, a Senior Developmental Pediatrician shares strategies with parents to help the child in a meaningful and constructive manner with positivity and efficacy.
