Winners of Women’s Day Contest
Created by Parentune Support Updated on Mar 04, 2016
It is time to declare the winners of Women’s Day Contest. Read on to find out who won.
At Parentune, we set out to identify and narrate stories of women who have made significant contributions to our lives. With that thought, we asked our parents to share their views only to discover that women have numerous roles to play than can be quantified in words.
Thanks to all the parents who wrote about powerful women in their lives. We got interesting entries. Some were touching, some encouraging. All entries were inspiring. The top two entries have been finalized by the jury. But it was a difficult task, as each entry was special. We congratulate all.
Congratulations to Preksha Modi and Neha Saroha, the winners of this contest. You can read their entries below. To all others who participated – thanks and well done.
We cherish your support.

Mywifemymotivation# she has been motivational since we got married. Each ups and downs in my life has been handled quite magnificently. She has stood behind me in each and every decision I have taken. She has given important tips on how to improve my music skills and eventually it has worked and appreciated. She is home manager and takes care of our little daughter by sacrificing personal health and hobbies. On this women's day I want to say I Love U..

#mymommymotivation "You have beared all the pain for me. When no one was there to understand me you were always there. When i am sick you leave all your work and sit besides me, shattering all your sleep and your dreams. You wake up early in the morning just to make a delicious breakfast for me and dad. You never showed you loved me but your eyes always said that. Those pretty dresses which i first said i dislike were always appreciated by my friends and to your lil knowledge i never let you know cause i felt embarrassed. I never could tell you that you are the first and last love of my life. You are the reason for my smile. You are the reason for my success. What ever I am itz because of you. Itz because of you that i breathe and live the life the way it is. It is you my MOM that you make each day of mine special. You Give Me Happiness . I love you mom. Happy Women's Day.

My mom is my motivation.. She is really superb.. She is an IDEAL fr every women.. Although she is illiterate bt fr everyone she is much qualified.. Being herself illiterate she always motivated me to study well.. She always taught me d value of study n being independent.. In her early married lyf my mom didn't get much respect in her family.. Few family members make fun of her because of her illiteracy.. She was scolded by anyone in family bt she never replied to anyone, she only smiles always.. She is always ready to help everyone n always did of every family member.. She never cared of herself.. Fr my Mom her whole family is everything n their happiness is my Mom's happiness.. One thing I in fact everyone who knows her admire most is " She gives her 2 sons,1 to her jethani n another to her devrani",, I don't think in today's world anyone can do this.. I Salute my Mom fr such a big heart.. She is really a Divine person.. I m trying to b as patience as she has bt seems impossible fr me.. Before my marriage I also had so much issues with my mom n I always used to say I will never miss u after my marriage bt now I miss her a lot.. Her love, her care, her anger, her pamper everything I miss a lot.. Maa tu kitni achi h, kitni bholi h, pyari pyari h ooo maa meri maa.. Truely MAA kaisa koi ni.. I LOVE u so much mummy..

#mymommymotivation A Women who inspire me the most is my MOTHER. My mother is shadow of God. She is the most important person in my life. Not only did she carry me for nine months in her womb but she continues to support and love me regardless of what I have put her through to bring me up. I have seen her struggle day to day to ensure we are all ok. Like every other person on this planet, even I know and believe that 'God could not be everywhere,so he made Mother'. Who amongst us has not been thankful to Universe for sending this Angel, this Divine creation in our life? In my life too, my Mother has been the biggest inspiration and most significant woman ever. She has put her sweat, her life and her soul in her family and her children, like every other mother. She stayed up nights so I could sleep. When I was born, my parents were going through very hard financial times. In those days she used to save food for my dad and me by eating half stomach herself! She would pawn her jewellry to help my dad get settled in his business. She would keep fasts for the long life of her husband and for me but in reality, she would be saving one day's food which could be eaten by us! When the financial condition improved, she took up a job as a teacher in a nearby school to make sure our finances were always stable. Even when my dad would ask her to relax at home, she would reply that she would relax after her death, not now! She is the Queen of this Kingdom, a Kingdom she has made from scratch, nurtured everyday and protected fiercely like a lioness! She considers every laugh line as a beautiful expression of life on her face. My mother has taught me so much and will always be grateful.

#mymommymotivation she make a difference in my community by working for a non-profit hospice organization. she accept all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. And thats the saddest thing, when she get patients that are dying from cancer simply because they couldn't afford chemo treatments. But thats beside the point. The point is that she is able to help people in need, people who are scared and hurting, and in process she also help and educate their families, preparing them for what is to come. When a person is prepared for their death and free from pain, she often to facilitate reconciliation between estranged family members, as well as offer counseling and grief support for children. As you can tell, she is pretty proud of the company she work for

#MyTeacherMyRoleModel I don’t know where to begin, I don’t know what to say. The only person who has stood by me through all life’s storms and bad weather, is none other than my amazing mother. I don’t see our relationship as something which is biological. For me, your warm hugs are nothing short of magical. Through life’s rough patches you’ve made me feel secure. Mom, you have been nothing less than an angel for sure. Life hasn’t always been fair, sometimes it has been very mean. I fell down along the way, I got wounds that couldn’t be seen. But through it all, my mom never left my side. Her love is the reason my tears have finally dried. Thank you is a very small word, for the sacrifices you make every day. From your warm hugs to your reassuring smile – everything has made my life worthwhile

#MyTeacherMyRoleModel My Mom is my biggest inspiration in my life. 2 years ago something terrible happened, I lost my hope to live .. not that I wanted to kill myself, it just that I lost the purpose of life and got very depressed and that moment I started to lose friend and started staying aloof of everyone ... She came, held my hand.. Sat with me and Said - " So you don't think your life can be good again? So you think that just like evryone else, I will also leave- thats how much you know your Maa?" I had tears in my eyes but couldnt respond, To that she said - "Beta, I know its not easy... life was never suppose to be easy. It suppose to go on - Chalti kaa naam - Zindagi... You might feel that you have lost the purpose of living, but who said you cant find a new one? Who said you cant start your life a fresh .. You have me, meri Jaan and I'm always there to support you and show you the positive side, if you will make mistakes I will teach you, sometimes might as scold you .. but that never means I dont know what my child is going through" That day my mom gave my life a purpose and changed it for good. She made me believe in me ... She is such a strong woman that It becomes impossible for me to understand that how she manages everything with utmost patience and ease. #ThankYouMa for being my inspiration. For being my friend when I had none and I when I couldnt trust anyone .. Thank you Maa for being there, hold my hand tight and not letting me give up, during the harsh tests of life ... #ThankYouMa for coming in my life and Making it worth living. You are just amazing ... i hope I can be as good to my kid (once I become, mommy) as you are.

Life brings about, a number of people who influence our beings in one way or the other. Our family, friends, classmates, colleagues are few of them; but a phenomenal presence is one who has touched our souls such that it changed our very way of life. One such person in my life was my English teacher in school- Mrs. Sahaay. She was the most adored of all the teachers in the school as she was the funniest, bubbliest and coolest of all. Poles apart from her, I was quiet shy and introvert as a child. Outside the classroom, Mrs Sahaay knew me only because we got down from the school bus at the same stop. On our journey to and from school, she tried to strike a conversation with me several times but to no avail. One day, as I stood waiting for my mother at the bus drop-point, she read the anxiety and skepticism in my otherwise calm stature and decided to stay. She asked me : “You seem worried, tell me is your worry going to bring mommy any sooner or wouldn’t bring her at all. ” Shocked I looked at her and slowly said “None”. On any other day, I wouldn’t have spoken out but that day, scared as I was, speaking to her felt soothing. Probably even she noticed the tension easing in my demeanor and hence started off with a long list of meaningless, senseless questions, all of which I answered miraculously. By the time my mother arrived I was totally calm and not scared at all. From that day onwards, everyday, me and Mrs Sahaay spoke about many more meaningless and senseless things and in the process, she taught me to trust people, always have a positive and optimistic attitude towards life and above all to remain calm and logical in the face of challenges. Later, when I came to know that Mrs Sahaay was a widow, who was single handedly bringing up two kids, taking up odd jobs after school to make ends meet, my respect for her grew ten-fold. Her jovial and outgoing nature was not just an appearance to hide her sadness, but that was who she actually was; someone who would stand up to life’s harsh situations and draw positivity out of them. She would always tell me, “Always consider your problems as challenges, only then you will have the courage to workout solutions, else one will only live lamenting about them. ” These words have brought peace to my heart and a smile to my face, always.

My inspiration in life has been my elder sister. Since early childhood ,she was better in academics as well as extra- curricular activities .Standing first in class through all the years ,winning every competition she participated in, she was an inspiration to me since my nascent years of life. She always prompted me to excel ,to be better than her .Healthy competition is what I learnt from her. Though two years elder to me ,we were always like best buddies since our childhood days (my first ever memories I remember). Doing our homework together , our common liking for music, cooking special dishes on weekends together (though i was the one who had to taste the surprise everytime), mutual admiration for each other's strengths and mutual support to improve each other's weaknesses is something i always remember when i think of us growing up. The virtues of caring and sharing; building self esteem and self confidence and having infinite faith in your ability is what I've learnt from her. She has been a pillar of strength for me;my true friend,my guiding light through peaks and troughs of my life. I attribute all my achievements in professional and personal life to her. She has forever prompted me to move ahead in life and never to look back. She is the one who inspired me to believe that nothing is impossible in life provided you are geared up to give your best shot, willing to make those sacrifices for the bigger goal. This women's week,my wish to god is to make her my lovely sister for every life I ever live on this earth and bless her with all the happiness this universe could possibly provide.

My inspiration, my role model is Dr. Lakshmi Devi (Principal of RCAPS, DU). A lady who is running the college for abt 20 yrs & deals with the exceptional courses like Instrumentation(H),Food Tech. (H),Electronics(H),Bio-Medical Sciences(H) &Computer Tech. (H), has devoted her entire life to the noble cause of bringing up the women from all masses & make them capable enough to hold high positions in corporate world. She didn't get married & has adopted 2 girls on her own. Has motivated students like me who were afraid of speaking in huge gathering, taking risks & starting new ventures on their own. She is the reason that I have been able to complete my Management degree that too securing 1st rank... isn't amazing. She never hesitated in experimenting rather used to say- “To err is human but if you commit the same mistake then you are fool.. so no one is stopping you from committing mistakes but make sure everytime you comeup with a new one” . In my entire life I have never seen a lady like her who is so committed and dedicated towards her work. People work for NGO and claims that they do this and that…but she never proclaimed her victory by shouting and all… She is the one whom I admire, respect more than my parents. Mam-You truly are a rock star!

#MySisterMyInspiration MY MOTHER Mrs. Santosh Goel is the sole special woman in my life without a doubt .While every mother is priceless in the eyes of her child, mine has gone that extra mile and has proved she deserved to be a mother which is why no mortal other than her can occupy that exalted position in my life. As a new mother, I keep comparing myself to her and realize I'm lagging way behind!!!. She was patience personified... a quality on the verge of extinction in us modern-day mothers. I remember as an infant, I had developed convulsions and was written off by doctors as a special child who'd never have a normal life... but thanks to God that I was born to such a loving and patient mother who sat up every night trying to bring my high fever down, who whispered reassuringly in my ears that I was God's most precious angel entrusted to her care, I not only was cured of my epilepsy completely but also went on to top my class in every examination since the third grade!!! Eat that Doctors!!! What medicine can't heal, tender love and care surely can!!! Today I am a teacher who is successfully teaching hundreds of students in a Govt. school and contributing my bit to make their lives better. I just want to salute this wonderful woman in my life with whose efforts I have reached this stage and say her thank you even though it's too little and pales in comparison to what she's done for me.
