After 30 years of hard work and dedication when 60-year-old Sumitra Devi finally retired from her work, her special day was made even more memorable by the presence of her three sons, each of whom has given her a reason to be proud. Know how.
Sumitra Devi worked as a peon at the Central Coalfields Limited Township in Rajrappa, Jharkhand. The day not only celebrated her professional journey but also her accomplishments as a mother as along with her co-workers stood her proud sons - Mahendra Kumar, a District Collector, Dhirendra Kumar, a doctor, and Virendra Kumar, a railway engineer.

Sumitra’s sons talked very fondly of their mother, her sacrifices and her devotion. “No job is difficult in life. Everything becomes possible with honest hard work. My mother and we have seen tough times in our lives, yet she never let us feel broken or disheartened. I am proud that we all lived up to her hard work and expectations.” said her son, Mahendra Kumar.
Sumitra couldn't hold back her tears as she shared “Sahib, for 30 years I cleaned the streets of this colony but my children are Sahibs like you.”
Even after her sons’ success, Sumitra Devi wanted to stand on her own feet till the end. That is why she continued to serve the town for decades.
