Sometimes the most meaningful journeys begin away from the glare of cameras. The life of Aarav Kumar, son of Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, is one such example. He never came in the limelight despite being the son of superstars.

At 15, Aarav stepped out into the world of his own. That was a bold choice Aarav Kumar made, and it became one of the most emotional chapters in Akshay Kumar’s journey as a father.

The Decision: “Dad, I don’t want to come”

In a heartfelt revelation, Akshay recalled a pivotal moment with his son: “He told me straight, ‘Dad mere ko nahi aana’ (Dad, I don’t want to come).”

Aarav didn’t want to pursue acting. Neither did he aspire to run his father’s production house. Instead he gravitated toward fashion design which was his passion.

Akshay admitted he once hoped his son would follow in his footsteps, but emphasized that he supports Aarav’s happiness above all else.

Choosing independence so young is not easy. He moved to London, where he continued his education and focused on fashion.

Akshay once said he didn’t want Aarav to leave so young, but also felt he had no power to stop him. And this was because Akshay himself had left home at 14 to pursue his own journey.

Aarav does his own laundry, cooks and avoids extravagance. He even shops at thrift or second-hand stores rather than splurging on designer labels. This self-sufficiency shows a grounded character that is rarely spotlighted among celebrity kids.

Akshay also revealed that at home, the discipline largely comes from Twinkle Khanna, who keeps routines and structure. Meanwhile, Akshay describes himself more as a friend to his children, giving them space.

What’s Next for Aarav?

Though still young, Aarav is already making quiet waves. He continues studying fashion in London, remaining away from the Bollywood spotlight. And more than that, he is slowly shaping a life defined by his own choices and not inherited expectations.
