In a shocking incident from Maharashtra, two Class 8 students were beaten badly by a hostel monitor just because they did not want to clean the toilets. This sad event has left parents worried about the safety of children in schools and hostels.
What Happened?
This happened in a government hostel in Washim district, Maharashtra. The students were asked by the hostel monitor to clean the toilets. When the children said no, the monitor became angry and started beating them.
Both children got injured and had to go to the hospital. They had bruises and marks all over their bodies.
When people heard about it, there was shock and anger across the state. Many could not believe that children could be treated so badly in a place where they should feel safe.
The situation became worse because the hostel staff did not stop the monitor. And this is not the first time the monitor used his power unfairly. There have been complaints earlier also but no one from the management acted on it.

Parents Speak Out
Parents are angry and worried. Many say they are scared for their children’s safety in hostels.
One parent said, “We send our children to study and grow, not to be beaten.”
Sending a child to a hostel is a big decision. They trust that their child will be safe and looked after. This incident has broken that trust.
Action by Police and Government
After the news came out, local authorities acted quickly. The hostel monitor was suspended, and an investigation started against the hostel staff.
The police have also registered a case under the Juvenile Justice Act. The district officials have promised to take strict action against anyone guilty.
Education officers are also checking other hostels in the area to make sure nothing similar happens again.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time something like this has happened in India. There have been several cases of violence and bullying in schools and hostels. Many children are scared to report such incidents, and sometimes authorities try to hide the problem.
No child should ever live in fear of being beaten, especially in a place that is meant to protect them.
