Storytelling

Growing up in a small home, seeing your mother cook meals in other people’s kitchens and your father working tirelessly carrying bricks just so your family could survive. This story is about Safin Hasan. A 22-year-old boy who wears the uniform of an India Police Service (IPS) officer. He is the youngest in the nation to wear that pride on his body.

Story Of Safin Hasan

Born in July 1995, Safin comes from a financially strained household. His parents lost their jobs in 2000. Then his mother took on domestic work and his father laboured with bricks to meet the basic needs of the family.

Despite this situation at home, Safin was very dedicated to his dreams. He had a desire to serve. And this sparked after his meeting with a collector who once visited his hometown.

Thankfully, his school waived his fees in grades 11 and 12, and relatives pitched in for his engineering college fees. Those acts of generosity lit the way forward.

The UPSC Journey

Safin’s biggest test came in 2017. On the day he was due to take the tough UPSC Civil Services Exam when met with a serious accident and suffered multiple fractures. Shockingly, he went straight from the hospital to the exam hall. He took the test despite his injuries and only then underwent surgery.

Respect to his dedication and grit!

That perseverance paid off. Safin cleared the UPSC with an All India Rank of 570. At just 22, he became India’s youngest-ever IPS officer. His achievement lifted his entire family.

Safin Hasan’s Journey Is Full Of Lessons For Us All

We often hear about rags-to-riches stories. Safin’s journey is so much more than that. When a student refuses to give up and when a community supports a dream, mountains can be moved.

Safin Hasan’s story is a spark to many children in difficult circumstances that dreams can be chased regardless of their situation.
