Developmental Milestones

I am writing this based on my very own experience. I had a very difficult pregnancy with 6 months of absolute bed rest. The phase was very difficult and my baby was born prematurely. My postpartum care was not done properly and the frequent NICU visits made me so weak to regain my proper walking style itself that it took almost two years to become my old self again. I think because of my health, knowingly or unknowingly I gave a lot of screen time to my son. After some time it was like it he was so hooked to the TV that he got interested in communicating!

Now he is going to be three years old very soon and thankfully he is showing a lot of instead in talking with us. What changes I did? I completely stopped his screen time. Yes, it's much needed and initially, I found it hard to adjust to this situation. I also consulted a speech therapist and screen time was the most important point she highlighted in his speech delay. I replaced this TV entertainment with singing songs and rhymes and involving him more in the outdoor activities and other identifying things and pretend-play toys. There is a lot of improvement in him now. Screen time is only limited to half an hour a day now and by god's grace, he doesn't show much interest in it. Speech delay associated with more screen time is real and cutting it down surely works.
