Story behind it

Balancing work and motherhood is never easy, which is why many women choose to step away  from their careers and shift their entire focus towards raising their child/children. Many celebrities and actresses have also left the limelight after becoming mothers. In the recent past, however, things have been changing, and for the better.

Celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, and Yami Gautam are setting a new benchmark by balancing motherhood and their careers side-by-side.

In a recent interview, actress Yami Gautam talked about returning to work while raising her son, but she's not doing it alone.

Yami and Aditya welcomed their son, Vedavid, on 10 May 2024. Yami shared that they both are equally invested and actively involved in raising their little boy. There are no fixed duties, and they keep shifting their roles based on their availability.

They always make sure that at least one of them is with Vedavid. For instance, when Aditya was busy with the Dhurandhar shoot, Yami stepped up to take care of the little one, and now that she is going to be busy with the shoot for her upcoming project, Aditya will be looking after their baby boy.

She shared, “With a baby so young, even a set is not the right place perhaps for a child. It's literally your heart outside your body, and who do you trust with your heart when both parents are working? Right now, I'm working, and Aditya's just had both the releases, so now he can be with Vedavid. Of course, our families are there, so we figure this out together. You can't fully plan this; you have to go with the flow, keeping in mind that the biggest priority in life forever will be your child, your parents, and your family.”

Yami also talked about her support system, “It's because of the support system I have; it would have been difficult otherwise. We need help, there's no denying that, but we must acknowledge it, and when that help is given, there's nobody else but your own family. I'm very grateful to my mother because that's how I can do what I do.”
